Situated in an irregular hillside lot on Sunset Boulevard in Pacific Palisades. The resulting structure adopts a site specific form that registers the allowable envelope permitted by the zoning and coastal code yet ruptures in reaction to urban, climate, views, and environmental considerations.

The rupture in the mass creates a “canyon trail” that optimizes ocean views, as well as energy efficiency by allowing higher sun exposure and natural ventilation. The trail also activates public programs and becomes a circulation path.

The canyon trail behaves as a fluid and continuous circulation path that stimulates perception through light, material, and differentiated spaces that expand and contract according to their use.

Among the unit types are different floor plan layouts that vary according to different living conditions. While some units have closed or semi-open kitchens, others may incorporate a smart wall.

Public spaces are organized sequentially through the canyon.

Along the way look-out points and rest areas offer views of the Pacific Ocean.
